We recognise and reward amazing attendance at St Michael’s.
Absences from school are of course sometimes unavoidable due to ill health or other circumstances. We would recommend that medical appointments are taken outside of school time where possible.
Our pupils are eager to come to school and we have few unauthorised absences. If your child is ill or unable to attend please telephone to inform the school by 9.30am. On return to school this absence should be explained by a letter or email.
In the event of an appointment taking place during school hours your child will be marked as absent from the session in which it falls unless present for the register. Each day the register is taken at the beginning of the morning and afternoon session.
Leave of absence during term time is not granted unless there are exceptional circumstances and family holidays are not such a circumstance. All leave of absence must be applied for in advance and authorisation cannot be given retrospectively. Written permission is required from the Headteacher for any such absence. No request for absence will be authorised in the assessment month of May for Year 2.
